More like this. Watch options. Storyline Edit. Rudy goes to summer camp full of rowdy teenagers. The head counselor is Tripper Harrison, the prank pulling, girl seducing, fun lover, teasing both his boss and the counselors at the nearby rich kids camp. He and everyone else are sick and tired of always losing the Camp Olympics every year, and Tripper must encourage all campers to try their hardest, and even convince young Rudy that this may be his chance to feel better about himself.
Did you know Edit. Trivia According to one of the featurettes on the DVD, several of the shots in the movie were added after initial filming ended. These included the scenes of Rudy and Tripper at the bus station and of them playing blackjack for peanuts. During the time off, Chris Makepeace had entered puberty and had the beginnings of a mustache.
Bill Murray decided that it had to go so he took Makepeace over to a sink, lathered him up with soap and shaved off his mustache. So Makepeace received his first ever shave from Murray. Alternate versions The music played during the second half of the Olympiad is different in the U. On the U. These lyrics are absent on the Canadian theatrical and VHS releases. The soundtrack is mostly instrumental.
You can hear this alternate music on the French soundtrack of the region 1 DVD. Soundtracks Are You Ready for the Summer? User reviews Review. Top review. This is one of my all-time favorite films. It remains every bit as fresh, funny and entertaining as the day it was first released. Forget the sleazy in-name only "sequels". A silly little film about the wacky hijinks of counselors and campers at summer camp, "Meatballs" proved itself not only to be a rare Canadian film hit, but also a launching pad for Bill Murray and director Ivan Reitman's careers.
Murray played Tripper Harrison, head camp counselor and was reportedly given free reign to improv on set during the production. Fast forward almost 30 years, and Murray is still bringing the funny, premiering his film with Melissa McCarthy, "St. Vincent" at the Toronto International Film Festival. So what happened to the rest of the cast of "Meatballs"?
